Not everyone's favourite pastime, but after yet another tragic occurrence where someone did not have what they thought they had in place, leaving devastation behind, please take 10 minutes to check what cover you have in place. Make sure you at least confirm the following:

What levels of life cover are there?
When does it end?
Is there an option to convert without evidence of medical health?
Is it dual or joint?
Is the premium guaranteed or reviewable?

Also be aware that standard mortgage protection life cover, clears the outstanding balance with the lender. It DOES NOT also pay that amount out to the family as well! (This is a common misconception.)

If in any doubt, email info@financialcompanion.ie or phone/text 087-6414570. There is no cost and no obligation and it will give you peace of mind.

Dave.

Talking to a few people about this topic yesterday (none of whom knew the details listed) and I set them a challenge. To set a reminder alarm on their phone for 1 week. If that alarm goes off and they have still not taken 10 minutes to make sure they know the answers to those questions, then they will arrange a telephone appointment for me to go through it with them.

Are you up for a challenge?

Set the alarm now ;-)

In response to a previous post about why people don't take time to review these kind of things (despite practically every aspect of your life being connected to your finances in some way!) one person said that they'd be embarrassed at being so disorganised.

There is no judgement passed on any aspect of how organised or not someone is. Everyone has different levels of understanding and the aim is to assist people to understand their own situation in language that is clear to understand, and leave them in a much better position going forward.

What most people say after a review is the peace of mind they now have, knowing exactly how things are (not to mention they often have more money left over each month.)

So, what is stopping you?

info@financialcompanion.ie or phone/text 087-6414570.

Take the first step.

Dave.
