When do people start getting grinds.? My daughter is in 2nd year and feels she's struggling at Irish....I can't help her being English ! And how much do they cost ??? Also any one recommend anyone...
I think people are starting to get grinds earlier and earlier now, if she is struggling and you think she'll benefit then why not. A teacher told me recently to expect to pay about 30 per hour. There are other options you might want to consider such as group grinds like from drogheda grinds academy which would work out cheaper. You might also consider summer courses in the gaeltacht, if she continues to struggle. Obviously this option wouldn't suit every child and is costly. I think they also do day summer courses locally and there is one in colaiste na hinse bettystown.
There are also apps and books with CD that she could use at home but that would obviously depend on how motivated she is! I just think that how irish is taught at school doesnt necessarily suit everyones learning style so maybe some alternative resources would spark a stronger interest in the language as well as improve her language ability, if you know whay i mean. Best of luck.
