So sad to hear about David Bowie passing away yesterday. He was such a genius. Mad but also, quite brilliant.

Here is a little reminder of why he was so great - this is my fave song from the brilliantly crazy Labyrinth:

yeah I was surprised at how shocked I was yesterday - think too because it was his birthday on Friday and there was so much hype about his birthday and his new album being released - little did we know he was dying in the background.
My hubby is the fan in our house - although I always knew his music growing up etc... I went with dh to see him in Manchester about 13yrs ago and although I didn't know all his music it was a brilliant concert. My hubby was lucky enough donkeys years ago to see Bowie along with a few others in a very small venue in America.
My 6 yr old was rather upset and told us he can't be dead he's my superstar!

Ah, the 6yr old was upset munchin, that's so sweet and it just goes to show the power of great music!

My children love 'Under pressure' and were sad to know the guy who sang that before Jedward (!!!) had died. I wish I could forget the Jedward part of that...

I reckon Labyrinth will be on TV this week or next week in memory of him and I will sit down with my children to watch it. Great movie - kind of mental but great all the same.

Very sad loss - it was shocking to wake up and hear that yesterday morning.

And what about his ex-wife, she sounds like a total nutter. She is in the Celeb Big Brother house and when they told her he had died, she opted to stay in the house. They were married for 10 years and had a very bitter divorce (he got full custody of their son) and he says she 'hates him and goes to great lengths to avoid him' Still, its a bit odd she is staying in the house after that news.

Some people are mad for publicity I suppose?

Yes there's a lot of bad feeling between the 2 of them - she's written a book about her time with Bowie but he had an order against her to limit what she could say. Apparently she caused mayhem in CBB by announcing David is dead - when David Gest was in the bedroom sleeping
There's was actually a 2 page spread in Saturday's mirror about her and him.

Yep the 6yr old was upset. We went to Liverpool over Christmas and on one leg of the journey we listen to Dh's Bowie album an old one that i bought him on cd for Christmas and on the next leg we listened to Mary Poppins sound track

Yes its,sad but I find the level of grieving as portrayed on the "news" channels very very odd.
I never get that whole Lady Di style hysteria...people gathering in the street and piling up flowers is very very strange in my opinion.
I think the world is so obsessed with celebrity its worrying.
