Mark Zuckerberg, facebook founder, has told the world that his wife, Priscilla Chan, is pregnant with a baby girl.

The Facebook founder announced the news on Friday, on social media. But, unexpectedly for the notoriously private couple, he also revealed that this pregnancy follows three miscarriages.

He wrote: "It's a lonely experience. Most people don't discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you. So you struggle on your own."

“We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories.”

His personal post has struck a chord with many other couples, who have had similar experiences. But it also shows just how rare it is for people to speak up about miscarriage.

There's still a stigma around miscarriage - even though its estimated that, among women who know they're pregnant, one in six of pregnancies will end this way.

I think its good he has spoken out and shared his feelings of loneliness and sadness.

It may start conversations for some couples who want to talk about their losses and that can only be a good thing.

having been through 2 miscarriages ourselves, we found that for us, it was much better to talk about it because burying it and not talking about it can make it worse.
