Steroids making me go crazy...

I had an allergic reaction at the weekend and it affected my breathing and I had to go on a dose of steroids. I have never taken steroids in my life before and I can tell you, I never want to again.

They are making me hyper and I cannot settle, I cannot sleep and my head is whizzing constantly. They started me on a 10mg dose but this did not work so they upped it to a 40mg dose, which is absolutely making me feel like I am crawling the walls.

Another terrible thing about them is they keep me awake at night. I have literally been unable to sleep for the past 3 nights. I was awake until 5am this morning, despite going to bed at 10pm.

I am so so tired and my body feels exhausted but there is nothing I can do until I'm finished the 5 day course.

I asked my doc if I could take some sleeping tablets for the next few nights just to get some sleep but he said I should just ride it out and that once I'm done with the course, my body will crash and I'll sleep like the dead for 2 days

So I've that to look forward to at the weekend so..

remind me never to have an allergic reaction to something again, its flipping horrible

They apparently make people very aggressive over time!!

There are body builders all over the country that take these on a regular basis - nuts!!

My little dog got a rash a few months back. The vet put her on steroids for a week. Big mistake!!! Never again. The poor dog was drinking the whole time and then peeing everywhere and then got an ear infection.

Googled and this is very common. Threw steroids in the bin!!!

I said it to the Vet and he goes ah yes, that happens a lot!!! Steroids mess with your immune system.

You poor thing Sabbi hope you manage to get some proper sleep soon. Do you know what caused your allergic reaction?- sounds pretty scarey
