So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health

Mental Health problems...

I was brought up to think that

'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger'
'What comes around, goes around'
'If you work hard, you'll be grand'
'There's always someone worse off than you'

Its interesting because I've had a bit of a topsy turvy few weeks and I was grumbling a little about something today and I stopped myself mid-moan and apologised for being grumpy. I actually said to my friend, 'Don't mind me, I know my problems are nothing really, not compared to what other people have to cope with'

And her reply was so interesting and really got me thinking...she said 'Your problems are the most important problems because they are affecting your life, so its ok to talk about them'

I had never thought of it that way. I just usually think that if I complain or worry about something, I need to think that there are lots of other people with worse problems than me and that things could be far far worse for me - so I should kinda be happy with my lot.

Not sure if this is making sense but it just got me thinking that it should be ok to grumble and be worried sometimes. It doesn't mean we don't have empathy for others if we feel upset or worried sometimes about things in our own lives.

Even now, I feel I should sign off on a positive note and say something like 'Ah, don't mind me, I'm off form today'

But I am going to resist. Blimey, that's hard to do.

I know exactly what you mean Sabbi, I have a few worries myself and I do often think to myself -look you are not homeless, you have food on the table and a job so get a grip- but I do think your own problems/ worries as your friends say are important to YOU and those who care about you. I think now a days these are referred to as First World Problems as they are nothing in the grand scheme of things if you know what I mean!- its hard to actually write down so it makes sense.
