Had my knee op on Wednesday. Very sore and can't really move much yet. Have stitches on both sides of my knee and am on crutches for 3 weeks.

Going for physio and to be fitted for a knee brace next week but hopefully, in about 6 weeks I'll be much better.

Off my head on medication but just said I'd pop on here for a quick min to let you know I'm grand and on the mend.

Hopefully it's all fixed now for good, and the end of a very very long wait for proper care.

What a crazy few weeks.

I have been resting at home and working from home as much as possible while me knee is healing from surgery. The surgeon never came to see me after my op, so I did not know how it went or what they actually did to me and I was just sent home with crutches, a prescription and told to rest and not drive or stand or walk much for a few weeks.

After 2 weeks, I went to get my stitches out at my local GP. The nurse sat me down and got a kind of scalpel and tugged at the stitches in the middle to break them (why she didn't just use a scissors I don't know, it would have been easier for her and less painful for me) Anyway, she broke the thread and then used a tweezers to pull out the actual stitches. It was extremely painful and stingy.

I got home and decided to have a bath and as I was washing my knee, I noticed a piece of thread sticking out - she had not taken all the thread and half a stitch was still in my knee. I called my hubby and showed him and he got me a tweezers and I pulled it out myself. It was horrible, the feel of doing that!

I continued to rest and yesterday had my first follow up physio appointment. The physio told me the damage to my knee had been very severe and that I will be out of action until mid-late January and may need another op!

I knew I had been struggling since the op with the pain and movement but I had no idea it was this bad. There are 4 levels of cartilage, 1 being the least and 4 being the worst and I was at a level 3. So I have been walking around for 18 months with grade 3 damage and making it worse and worse that whole time.

I despair for the HSE. They put off surgery, saying physio would be better but now it turns out, the physio and activity made it worse.

Right, rant over. Just very annoyed with the whole situation tbh.
