So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth to regain their health

the idea for increasing her fluids is to stretch and train the bladder to know when its full and when to empty.....i really am at a loss as to what else i can do to help Hailey- i know it is going to stress her out having accidents in school as we were with her cousins last week and she had an accident and she was very upset they would find out and "call me a baby" it really feels never ending i mean we are 1 year 8 months trying to toilet train now :(

School got back to me yesterday, there isnt going to be a SNA in Haileys class but they are going to let her have access to 1 everyday, 3 times in the day she will come in and take Hailey to the toilet and hand her clean clothes if she needs them, so i am glad that she will get a bit of a help.the teacher seemed understanding and helpful about it so hopefully it will work out.

Best of luck in the morning and be sure to go and spoil yourself a bit after you drop her off if you can. I can imagine there has been considerable stress in the build up to this day.

So far so good only 1 accident on the Friday, but come Monday she will be starting on milk being delivered into the school for break 250ml carton- so I imagine accidents will be on the up after that. Hailey did say that she is missing school work when she goes out to the toilet with the SNA so im hoping that she isn't going to start being difficult for her and refuse to go- fingers crossed the good start continues.

fingers crossed things keep going well for her

well over the past month Hailey has been having up to 10 wee accidents a day,( i knew that increasing her fluid intake would make more accidents but i didnt think it would be this bad) to say its stressful is an understatement, some of the kids in school have been noticing and saying mean things to her.

i emailed the urinary consultant to say how bad things were and could we put the ultrasound forward as its not till Jan. so she rang me last week and agreed that we can have the ultrasound earlier so we are going at the end of this month, with this ultrasound you go in with a full bladder and then get scan and then go to the loo and then they check how well your bladder empties and that all is working as it should.

I really hope we get some answers this time as i am at a complete loss about this.

hi haileysmam - it'll depend on the child / what they're scanning for etc...consultant will go through it all with you - they prefer not to sedate if at all possible, as far as she knows parents can sometime stay in the room. Also kids are usually given ear phones and a tablet screen on the roof for them to watch

Oh janey Haileysmam, that is so so horrible. Poor little Hailey, she must be so upset about it all. Its very stressful for her to be going through this.

Is it the milk making her go so much do you think? Is she not wanting to go with the SNA or is she holding it in until its too late?

Sometimes our 5 year old will be busy colouring or playing and then suddenly she is running to the loo and she has a little accident. Its like we still have to remind her to pee sometimes because she gets so distracted. And she doesn't like going to the toilet in school, often when she comes home, she will be bursting to pee. She seems to hold it in and I don't know why.

Does Hailey not like the toilet in school? Is she holding it in for a reason or is it the urinary issue.

Hopefully the ultrasound will explain everything.

Poor little chicken :(

The thing is we have to get her to drink 1 litre of fluid a day to increase her bladder size,so she has to drink.....therefore accidents are the end result. she says she misses out on things in the classroom going to the loo with the SNA so she is a bit resistant to go- but she does go with her but there is always an accident there already by the time she brings her.

Unfortunately her accidents aren't cos shes busy doing something like a normal toddler, she just doesnt seem to know its happening.

hopefully we will get somewhere thursday week.

Hailey had the ultrasound yesterday, it was a very stressful experience. She had to have a full bladder for the scan-and they were running late so she was bursting to go to the loo, she had several accidents while we were waiting- as over an hour waiting with a full bladder was a next to impossible task for a child with bladder problems.

She ended up being as still as a statue for the ultrasound which was great, we had been practising at home so she was well rehearsed!. they did a pre void scan and 2 separate post void scans.

We should get the results next week- so time will tell where we go from here

Its awful waiting for a scan with a full bladder, its so uncomfortable. I cannot imagine a child having to try and hold in for that long.

Its unfair to expect people - especially a child - to wait that long with a full bladder. Very hard for her.

But hopefully you'll get some answers now - did they say anything during the scan at all? any indications of what they saw?

Poor little chicken. :(

Back to hospital tomorrow for ultrasound results, am quite nervous as to what we are going to hear, i just hope whatever it is they can help us as we really are a loss, 23 months trying to train her now and to say we are out of ideas is an understatement.

I got on to public health nurse as well a few weeks ago, she came for an hour home visit where Hailey had 2 accidents in that time.she basically said it is beyond her expertise, i asked if she could refer us to the incontinence unit or an incontinence nurse but instead she just rang them for advice- which was "pretend the last 2 years hasn't happened and start toilet training again"- how im meant to wipe the last 2 years from Haileys mind is beyond me .....sooooo frustrated :(

Hey, it was quite an upsetting appointment, Hailey has "a dysfunctional bladder" i asked is this fixable- only to be told that Dr sees 16 year olds with dysfunctional bladders- i then ended up bursting into tears cos the thought of Hailey having to deal with this for life is so heatbreaking.

we just have to continue doing what we are doing- we are also going on waiting list for Uroflow Studies and also an MRI of her spine to see if the sacral dimple is causing any of these problems- because of her age she said she would need a light anaesthetic for this as she doesn't think she would stay still for that.

I am going to get back on to public health nurse about referral to incontinence nurse.

I just want things to be better for Hailey, kids have already started saying mean things to her is school about it and i just feel so helpless
