Kegel Beads & other ways to strengthen pelvic floor

Right so; I have had 4 children and my pelvic floor is not the better for it. I do kegel exercises when I think of it but I still pee alot more now than I did before I had kids and sometimes it drives me a bit mad. I'll be out for a walk or run or at an exercise class I an need to pee twice during it!

I wanted to look at a few ways to help tone up my pelvic floor muscle and here is what I am up to:

Rebounding - I have been doing some rebounding classes in labfitness.com Its all done on trampolines and the idea is that it helps strengthen pelvic floor. I have done it a few times and while I still pee during each class, I am peeing a bit less.

YVB Shorts - I have a pair of YVB sports shorts which help hold in pelvic floor when exercising. They are good for running and jumping exercises and curb the need to pee as much and help prevent leaks (yuk, I know)

Kegel Beads - When I was at the Ultimate Girls Day Out a few weeks ago there was stand for Sex Síopa. Of course they have lots of toys for the bedroom but I was most interested in the Kegel beads, which you can use for 30 mins a day for 12 weeks to sort out the pelvic floor and tighten and strengthen the area. Its a very strange feeling but I am willing to give it a go and see if it works! See: http://sexsiopa.ie/collections/lelo/pro ... -luna-noir

I'll let ye know how I get on with the kegel beads - I am hoping to 'fix' my pelvic floor with these!!!

Anyone else have problems with pelvic floor and have any other ideas for ways to tone it back up after birth?

I only had two kids but I had surgery years ago and my pelvic floor is really bad. I am afraid to run in case I wee. I tend to stay clear of classes because I am afraid of leakage.

Have either of you tried a physiotherapist? After my 2nd, the consultant did write a letter to send me to a physiotherapist but I never went - I was just too embarassed. Now, 5 years later I am seriously considering it.

The other thing that I find really helpful is weights. I did Operation Fat Destruction with Labfitness and I found that my whole core tighted up and the pelvic area along with it. I stopped the weights because my knee started to object and then I fell down the stairs and really messed it up for a few months. Definatley going to start up again.

I have only done it a couple of times so far but I am determined to be better in the next few weeks at doing it every day (bad me!!)

Its supposed to take 12 weeks and I will let ye know how I get on as I go.

Today I was running on a treadmill for 20 mins and doing weights etc after and I never went to the loo once - that's major progress for me so I guess something is starting to get better 'down there'!!!

Jaysus - the trials of being a woman eh??!!!!

Very true. I find that I actually do not do stuff because I am afraid of having to pee. We must sort ourselves out or we will end up leaky old ladies!!
