Founded in 2010 after extensive research and product design, sásta Fitness Franchise is an Irish company which is taking the fitness world by storm. sásta is a patented treadmill based fitness pod which uses vacuum technology. The pod is only available in sásta studios, small, non-intimidating and welcoming studios, full of encouragement and positivity.

Hello Everyone

We are delighted to have joined everyone here on Mumstown and look forward to meeting some of you at our studio's around the country.

We are going to use this thread to post information on Fitness & Nutrition, some of you who have visited some of our studios might post how they're getting on and overall just to let you guys know more about us.

Something everyone loves -

Some Facts and Guidelines:
  • Car needs petrol to run – Humans need nutrients. Dirty petrol/diesel isn’t good for car – we need the right nutrients (healthy foods) to perform at our best.
  • Most important meal of the day = Breakfast. It restores lost energy, hydrates the body making you ready for action.
  • Hydration – prevention is better than cure. Drink before, during and after training and matches. DO NOT wait until thirsty as this means you are already dehydrated. Aim to drink at least 2litres of water each day. Water should be consumed (isotonic drinks i.e. lucozade sport, Gatorade, powerade or energizer are only beneficial after 90+ mins of intense exercise).
  • Symptoms of dehydration include; Headache, fatigue, vomiting, chills, feeling faint. Fact – dehydration of the body by 2-5% (which is when your lips feel dry) can lead to 30% reduction in performance mentally and physically.
  • You don’t always know when they are thirsty. It is suggested water breaks every 15 minutes.
  • Bring a bottle of water with you in the car – every time you come to a red traffic light take a sip – see how quickly you can drink an extra litre of water!!
  • Most important to restore energy levels by eating within 1hr of exercising. As good practice, it is suggested that you bring healthy snacks to training and have it at the end of the session.
  • Not a good idea to start exercising without stretching. It lengthens the muscles, increases blood flow and prepares muscles to work hard without getting sore. Stretch appropriate to your programme and always warm up before stretching.
  • Breathe (21,600=average breaths a day) – in through your nose and out through your mouth. If you are out of breath or yawn it’s a sign not enough oxygen.
  • EAT WELL, HYDRATE WELL, EXERCISE WELL AND FEEL WELL!!

Manowars 17 point win over Crumlin came just 4 short weeks after their 1 point loss against the same team. The same players took to the field but yet the result was so different – they put it down to their additional training in sásta Drogheda.

The team had improved substantially from last year but as the season was coming to an end a few results went against them leaving them in the unwanted position of possible relegation in the league. Players were disheartened and disheveled as they could not justify their results against the level of commitment they had put in during the year – maybe they were just stale and tired.

The manager decided to try something different with potential to improve fitness, strength and overall team morale = sásta!! 23 players attended up to 6 sessions in the studio and were challenged to complete an Athlete programme by the end of their 3 weeks. It was completely out of their comfort zone and seemed impossible after the 1st session but as I said this team had no fear of commitment and got the sásta bug making them adamant to try & beat the pod.

Over the sessions the competition grew to see who was the top performer, players stayed in the studio supporting and encouraging each other to do the impossible – and they did. The teams dropped 57.5% body fat (2.5% per player avg), gained 115lbs Muscle (5lbs per player avg), lost 92lbs Fat Mass (4lbs per player avg), decreased their metabolic age by 19 years (0.82yrs per player avg) and visceral fat dropped by 17 (0.74 per player avg), their average distance covered on the pod in 30 minutes increased by 1.5km average per player, but most importantly, they took the challenge, embraced it and overcame it.

Not only did their fitness and body strength improve but their mental strength and self belief sky rocketed. By overcoming the obstacle of the POD they knew they had the capabilities to overcome the game.
